My host device isn’t working on a 5G connection.

Some 5G devices and wireless carriers require a configuration change to function correctly with Avatour.

Many carriers, including T-Mobile in the USA, have chosen to roll out next-generation IPv6 addressing in conjunction with their 5G rollout. The Avatour architecture is not yet fully IPv6 compatible, so the small configuration change detailed below is required for devices to run Avatour successfully.

Android Devices

  1. From the Settings app, choose Connections / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names
  2. Choose your active access point to edit its parameters
  3. Change the “APN Protocol” parameter to IPv4, and exit back to the list.
  4. Restart your device.

iOS Devices

  1. From the Settings app, if your carrier has enabled APN editing, you can find the APN settings in one of the two locations below. If you don’t have these options, you can’t edit your APN. Contact your Avatour representative for other options.
    1. Cellular / Cellular Data Options / Cellular Network
    2. Mobile Data / Mobile Data Options / Mobile Network
  2. Under “Data APN Supported IP Versions,” select IPv4.
  3. Restart your device.

If after disabling IPv6 you still have issues running Avatour, contact our support team.
